UK-based pilot training company, St George Flight Training Limited, has seen their first two Commercial Pilot trainees successfully gain professional pilot licenses at its site at Newcastle International Airport.
St George Flight Training has over 14 years’ experience of aviation training, and the success of the business led to the establishment of a second base at the airport last November. This flight training company provides private and commercial pilot training as well as one-off ‘air experience’ flights for budding aviators.
Now their first two students, Stewart Mason from Barnard Castle and Steven Dowey from Newcastle, have gained their professional pilot licenses after much hard work and training.
Both students trained initially as private pilots and whilst building up their flying hours, carried out Airline Transport Pilot theory studies by distance learning. After passing professional ground exams, they then enrolled with St George Flight Training at Newcastle International for the practical element of the procedure and gained their Commercial Licenses following flight tests in September with a Civil Aviation Authority examiner.
Dave Laws, chief executive of Newcastle International said, “It is great news that St George Flight Training has seen their first two commercial pilots pass with flying colours. With news like this we can ensure that the North East will be recognised as one of the most prestigious places for flight training across the UK and beyond.”
Captain Eric Reed, head of training at St George Flight Training said: “Witnessing two students successfully achieve their commercial pilot license is a great signal that the business is going from strength to strength.
“With the support of Newcastle Airport I hope to continue the company’s success and welcome many more students to our first class training facility.”
