Pilgrims take to the air for third round replay
Air Southwest is laying on a special flight from Plymouth to Newcastle to ensure the Pilgrims arrive refreshed for their crucial third round FA Cup replay next week.
Argyle will fly to Newcastle with Air Southwest on Tuesday lunchtime ahead of their clash with the Magpies at St James Park on Wednesday, before flying home on Thursday morning.
Mike Coombes, Air Southwest’s commercial director, said: “Last Saturday’s draw means the Pilgrims face an 800-mile round trip, or seven hours each way by road or rail.
“Air Southwest’s regular Newcastle service from Plymouth can get them there in a fraction of the time so we’ve laid on a special flight to make sure they arrive refreshed and ready for their third round replay.”
Steve Davies, head of sales and marketing at Argyle said: “Our ongoing partnership with Air Southwest means the lads can enjoy the speed and comfort of flying from Plymouth City Airport to Newcastle which will hopefully help give them the edge on the field.”
Air Southwest has been flying Argyle to away games since the airline was launched in 2003 and is the club’s official airline partner. Air Southwest offers frequent year-round flights from Plymouth to Newcastle with fares starting from £39 including taxes, charges and baggage.
